STAFF + INSTRUCTORS
Katie joined WMCAT in 2015; she works as a project manager, supporting multiple programs and projects concurrently. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Kalamazoo College, where she majored in Fine Art and studied Critical Theory. Much of her undergraduate career was project-based, both in Fine Art and academia, including several accomplished with the Arcus Center for Social Justice Leadership (ACSJL) at Kalamazoo College. A self-directed undergraduate degree allowed Katie to use art as a tool for exploring critical theory and semiotics, and embedded her understanding of how meaning-making and space-making can help build agency for (and in) communities. In 2019 Katie completed a master’s degree in Public Administration and hopes to be able to spend her career bringing human voice and equity to systems that have traditionally been based in oppression. She spends her downtime gardening, crafting, and hanging out with as many dogs as possible.
