Teen Arts + Tech Afterschool Program
Enrollment for Fall 2020 is Now Open!
New this semester, all Grand Rapids Public high school and middle school students (grades 7th – 12th) are eligible to register for tuition-free WMCAT Where You’re At remote studio sessions. WMCAT will be offering three, 4-week long remote studio classes where we encourage creative expression, connect you to teens with similar interests, and support you through your middle school and high school journey.
We are now enrolling for the final of three studio classes offered this semester. See studio options and the application below.
Students from other high schools in the Grand Rapids area will be considered if seats are available!
Classes will meet online as a group on Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m. (in Google Classroom and Zoom). The rest of the week you will have free time to complete amazing art! This final studio will offer a collaborative stop motion animation jam with all studios, still providing all supplies that you will need. Choose your favorite media (or something new) and learn how stop motion animation can make your ideas come to life. Each studio will work in a different animation technique, and you’ll create your own individual video clip(s) from home. At the end of the session, we’ll take everyone’s completed videos to create one final, awesome mash-up of ideas, sounds, and visuals.
Every student will get a supply kit of what they need to complete the class project, and we will talk to each of you about how to set up an easy, free personal workspace in your home. Details will be shared with your enrollment confirmation.
Students should complete an application to be a part of WMCAT Where You’re At. Grand Rapids Public School students will be prioritized, but if you are an interested student within Kent County, your application will be considered if seats are available. Enroll by November 23 for priority placement.
