Ceramics Studio + Game Design Studio

A unique outdoor and virtual teen art exhibition took place on the trails at Blandford Nature Center from May 30 – June 7, 2019.

For two weeks, the public encountered originally-designed Pokémon-inspired characters created by students from the WMCAT Ceramics Studio in collaboration with students from the Game Design Studio. Guests saw the sculptures in person on the trails of Blandford Nature Center and then interacted with the 3D characters virtually! The characters can be found below.

From the imaginations of the Ceramics and Sculpture teen artists, new and seasoned Pokémon-Go fans explored and found the characters placed in the forest along a trail. Users scanned the QR code on the trail that corresponds with the digital 3D character created by Video Game Design students.

Ceramics Studio students were inspired at Blandford by the nature, forces within nature and various colors that make up the forest surrounding the trails. This highly interactive exhibition allowed our teen artists to connect their voices and talents within our community, collaborate with each other and showcase their creativity.

Guests on the trail also saw actual Pokémon character sculptures created by The Cook Arts Center ceramics and sculpture class.
